The Great Barrier Reef


The Great Barrier Reef is located on the coast of Queensland. It is the largest marine Park and stretches 3000km along the coast. The reef is 15 -150km off the coast and the width is 65km. The latitude of the reef is 18°00'S and the longitude is 146°50'E. The depth of the ocean goes 250 feet below sea level. It covers over 230,000 square kilometers. The Great Barrier reef is the largest coral reef in the world it is the only living thing that can be seen from space.

This Reef is an important destination because it is a unique place full of enjoyment. The Great Barrier reef has many spectacular and wonderful unique species of marine life and coral . It is also one of the seven wonders of the world which is really amazing. It has many wildlife which include dugong, green turtles, dolphins, whales,giant claims over 120 years old, 20 types of reptiles over 1500 species of fish and also 200 different bird life.
